5 Reasons Why My Album Release Show Was THE BEST!

A “detailed” blog has been requested of me in regard to the historic events that occurred this past Friday at my album release show. I will try to be detailed, but there was honestly so much that happened that made the event incredible. Let’s go for 5…

#1 - I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Ms. Valerie Simpson (a songwriting legend in her own right). I asked Val if she would “testify” to the power of  true love on the vamp of “Love is a Resolution”. She took the mic, and the stage, and sang about the love she shared with her husband Nick Ashford who passed away earlier this year. It was…compelling…and powerful. I’m really blessed to have her support.

#2 - There was such a good crowd, and the energy was amazing. People were excited to be there, and celebrate the release of Insomnia, and to hear any new material I had been working on. To hear the crowd singing along, clapping their hands, and even leaving their seats to dance in the isles, was incredibly rewarding.

#3 - The feedback we got from people after the show was unbelievable. Several people told me that they were deeply moved—some even moved to tears multiple times. Several people told me they were “inspired”, and one person even said I had given them “hope”. To know that we made that kind of connection was very humbling and rewarding at the same time. We made a lot of new fans that night. There was definitely a very potent, and unique energy to the Sugar Bar that made people want to linger for hours after the show was through.

#4 - There were a few thoroughly impressed “important” people from a major publishing label in the audience, and a major international songwriter. They commended my performance and my songwriting after the show. There was also a very well known music journalist who was taking notes the entire show—which lead to an interview on Sunday evening.

#5 - My band was tighter than ever!
