Must…Blog…Something…

I’m crazy busy. I’ve got shows to plan for, sermons to prepare, songs to record, books to revise, people to call, meetings to attend, friends to hang out with, and a whole mess of other stuff to handle.

In the midst of all this busy-ness, it’s easy for the mind to get cluttered…and creativity to get blocked by anxiety and stress. This is when my words come back to me in a MacDonald’s bag, “Inspiration is a luxury”—yeah, self, eat up!

I’m in that mode where I can’t ride momentum and emotion into greatness—both are pretty fickle partners anyway. Discipline is my real ride-or-die, always always always there, just waiting for me to wise up and realize that she’s my forever girl. So, I sit down, make a “to-do” list, and begin to push against the resistence—that paralyzing feeling of “there’s no possible way I can get all of this done.”

Ohhhh but watch me! That’s all I’ve got to say to the overwhelming discouragement that leads to procrastination—watch me! One task at a time, I will stab you. I’ll twist the knife when I sabbath. Violent, right? But sometimes you’ve gotta’ really fight to be productive. This blog is one of those times.
